1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Athena (“Athena,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Athena Technologies Inc. By accessing or using our websites, web applications, APIs, and AI tutoring services (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Service.
If you are under 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you represent that you have reviewed these Terms with your parent or legal guardian and that they have consented to your use of the Service.
2. Description of Educational Services
Athena provides an interactive, AI-driven educational software platform designed to assist students in preparing for Advanced Placement (AP®) examinations, beginning with AP Calculus AB. The Service features adaptive practice problems, step-by-step whiteboard derivations, conversational Socratic tutoring, diagnostic scoring tools, and educator management portals.
3. User Accounts and Registration
To access full features of the Service, you must register for an account using Clerk or authorized authentication credentials. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete registration information and to maintain the security of your account credentials. You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
4. Free Trial, Subscriptions, and Billing
Free Trial: Athena offers a 7-day free trial for new learner accounts. No credit card is required to initiate the trial. During the trial period, learners receive full access to core practice sets and whiteboard micro-lessons.
Subscriptions: Following the free trial or upon user upgrade, access to learning and tutoring surfaces requires an active paid membership (“Athena AP Calculus Membership”), billed either monthly ($29 USD/month) or annually ($180 USD/year) via Stripe.
Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled prior to the renewal date. You authorize us (via Stripe) to charge the applicable subscription fee to your designated payment method.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Account Settings. Upon cancellation, your membership privileges will remain active until the end of your prepaid billing period.
5. Academic Honesty and Acceptable Use
Athena is designed as a study coach to build authentic mathematical comprehension. You agree that you will not:
- Use the Service to cheat on live, proctored examinations, standardized tests, or school assignments where external aids are forbidden;
- Scrape, spider, crawl, or extract problem data, whiteboard animations, or proprietary curriculum via automated means;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any aspect of Athena’s AI tutoring engine or client code;
- Share, resell, or distribute your account credentials to multiple unauthorized third parties.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
All proprietary algorithms, question databases, pedagogical workflows, whiteboard layouts, sound design, and software code are the exclusive intellectual property of Athena Technologies Inc. and its licensors. You are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access the content solely for your personal academic study.
7. Official College Board Disclaimer
Advanced Placement®, AP®, and College Board® are trademarks registered and owned by the College Board, which was not involved in the production of, and does not endorse, sponsor, or affiliate with Athena Technologies Inc. Athena’s score projections are calibrated estimates based on practice performance and do not guarantee an official score on the College Board examination.
8. Limitation of Liability and Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ATHENA TECHNOLOGIES INC. DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
